Nintendo’s Rhythm Tengoku Gold has returned to the number one spot in the Japanese sales charts in a relatively average sales week for the region. To be known as Rhythm Heaven in the West, the DS game sold 76,000 units, for a lifetime total so far of 612,000. The highest new entry, at number two, is Sony’s much-delayed Afrika for the PlayStation 3. The photography-themed safari simulator has still not been confirmed for release in North America, and Sony Europe has already indicated that it will not be sold in their territories. The title sold 38,000 units on its debut. Also new at number four is Capcom published beat ‘em-up Fate/Tiger Colosseum Upper for the PSP. The game is based on the PC and PlayStation 2 erotic visual novel Fate/Stay Night by Type-Moon, and sold 34,000 units. The final new entry in the top ten is Electronic Arts’ Battlefield: Bad Company for PS3 at number seven. Although it only achieved 26,000 unit sales it’s still the best performance for a Western title -- particularly a first person shoot ‘em-up -- in some time in the Japanese charts. The game is not the only Western title to take advantage of the slow week, with Silicon Knights’ Too Human on Xbox 360 debuting at number 17. Other new entries this week include Broccoli’s anime tie-in Shinseiki Evangelion Ayanami Ikusei Keikaku DS with Asuka Hokan Keikaku at number 15, with fellow anime licensed game To Loveru: Waku Waku! Rinkangakkou-Hen from Marvelous at number 19 and an Xbox 360 port of popular visual novel Clannad at number 25.
