Following the successful launch of the Nintendo DSi, Nintendo has taken the top four slots in the Japanese sales charts this week - with an impressive start for what will be known in North America as Kirby Super Star Ultra. A remake of the SNES compendium Kirby Super Star, the game sold 266,000 units in its first week. Nintendo releases were also aided by a national holiday last Monday – which always tends to favor the company’s more family orientated releases. As a result, Rhythm Heaven, Wagamama Fashion: Girls Mode and Aruite Wakaru: Seikatsu Rhythm DS (aka Personal Trainer: Walking) all saw a rise in their chart position this week. Apart from Kirby Super Star Ultra though sales have been soft, with the second placed Rhythm Heaven selling only 40,000 units and no other new entries in the top 10. The budget re-release (as part of the PSP the Best label) of Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (aka Monster Hunter Freedom Unite) on PSP did move up four places to number seven, though, with 19,000 unit sales. Outside of the top 10, the highest new entry was Konami’s anime tie-in Shugo Chara! Amunonijiro Chara Change on DS at number 13. PlayStation 2 wrestling game Wrestling Angels: Survivor 2 from Success entered at number 15, with Tecmo’s Nostalgeo no Kaze on DS at number 21, and PS2 visual novel Zero no Tsukaima: Maigo no Period to Ikusen no Symphony from Marvelous at number 25.
