Hardware sales rankings were static week-on-week in Japan, as sales of Nintendo's DS line of handhelds once again secured the top spot, with the PSP following in second, Media-Create said Friday. For the week ended February 7, the DS line of hardware, which includes the DS Lite, DSi, and the DSi LL, sold 52,606 units, down from a total of 66,457 a week prior, but it was still enough to outsell all other platforms. Individually, the DSi LL sold 34,863, the DSi 24,783, and the DS Lite 6,811. Broken down, the PSP-3000 was the top-selling individual piece of hardware, moving 47,875 for the week. Combined with the UMD-less PSP Go, the PSP line sold 49,520 units for the week. On the home hardware front, sales of both the PlayStation and Wii declined notably. Wii sales fell to 36,149 from 42,309, while PS3 sales dropped to 25,450 from 34,431. Below are the full sales rankings from Media Create for the week ended February 7, 2009 (the bottom chart lumps together sales of all models in a given line of hardware).
