Sales of the new, larger screened Nintendo DSi dropped by 33 percent week-on-week to 67,243 units in Japan for the week ended November 29, but it was still enough to hold onto the top sales spot, Media Create said Monday. The Nintendo DSi LL launched on November 21 in Japan, and sold 100,553 units in its first two days of availability. The DSi LL is a revised Nintendo DSi, that sports larger 4.2 inch screens and retails for ¥20,000 ($220). The handheld is confirmed for the U.S. and European markets sometime next year as the DSi XL. There are now three DS models available on the market in Japan currently: the DSi LL, the DSi, and the DS Lite. Combined sales for all three handhelds during the week were 111,532. The PlayStation 3 and Wii flip-flopped the number two and three spots from the prior week, but were virtually neck-and-neck in unit sales. Wii sold 46,673, while PS3 sold 46,558. Sales of the Sony's new UMD-less PSP Go handheld dropped for the fourth straight week since the handheld launched on November 1, selling 3,809 units versus 4,574 last week. Sales of the older PSP, however, rose to 38,839 this week from 32,752. The rest of the Japanese hardware rankings for the week ended November 29 are below: DSi LL: 67,243 Wii: 46,673 PS3: 46,558 PSP: 38,839 DSi: 37,021 DS Lite: 7,268 PSP Go: 3,809 Xbox 360: 3,685 PS2: 2,057
