Unit sales of all current video game platforms declined in Japan for the week ended January 24, following software-driven hardware sales spikes, Media Create reported Friday. Sony's PSP-3000 led unit sales for the third week in a row with 52,909, down from the prior week's 71,186. The PSP-3000 saw a weekly sales peak at 145,682 units recently, following the release of Square Enix's commercially-successful PSP role-playing game Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. Meanwhile, its newer PSP Go cousin has fallen below 1,800 weekly units. Wii followed in the number two spot for the second week, moving 45,167, down from 57,349 a week prior. Wii sales were recently bolstered by Nintendo's latest software sales leader, New Super Mario Bros. Wii. In late December, the game helped drive Wii sales to 215,000 units sold in a single week. Below are the full sales rankings from Media Create for the week ended January 24, 2009 (the bottom chart lumps together sales of all models in a given line of hardware).
