With seven new entries in the top ten, sales in Japan have almost doubled from the previous week, to more than 37 percent above the weekly average. As expected, sales of Koei's latest, Shin Sangoku Musou 4 (aka Dynasty Warriors 5), have dominated, with 569,892 units sold. However, this is marginally below the first week performance of the previous entry in the series, at around 650,000 units, and below even spin-off series Sengoku Musou (aka Samurai Warriors) at approximately 639,000 units. Even so, with over half a million units sold in the first week the series has maintained its reputation as one of the most important and successful in Japan. Star Fox Assault also did reasonably, with 80,510 unit sales, followed by Rockman EXE 5: Team of Colonel (aka Mega Man Battle Network 5: Team Colonel) with 62,458 sales and Another Code with 59,346 units sold. With four different formats represented in the top four (plus PSP title Namco Museum at number nine with 21,775 sales) the Japanese market still appears unseasonably buoyant, although whether the traditional spring lull has simply been transplanted to later in the year remains to be seen. In terms of hardware sales, little seems to have changed over previous weeks, with the PS2 just ahead of the pack with 44,378 sales and a 34.65 percent market share. This is followed by the PSP with 41,867 sales and a 32.69 percent share of the market, followed by the Nintendo DS with 26,761 sales and a 20.90 percent share. Next is the Game Boy Advance with an 8.96 percent market share, followed by the GameCube with 2.62 percent and the Xbox with 0.19 percent.
