The latest iteration of Level-5's Professor Layton Nintendo DS series has landed the top spot in Japan for the week ended November 29, selling 306,000 units, Media Create said Thursday. The tracking firm listed Professor Layton and the Flute of Malevolent Destinyas the top game for the week, followed by Nintendo's Tomodachi Collection for DS, which sold 59,000. Tomodachi Collection has sold 1.75 million units to date in Japan. Last week's number one, Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver for DS, dropped down to number three for the week. Combined sales of both versions are over 3 million units to date in Japan. Games for Nintendo platforms dominated the list, taking up nine out of 10 slots. The only game not for Nintendo Wii or DS was Konami's World Soccer Winning Eleven 2010 for PlayStation 3. Aside from the new Professor Layton, the only other new game to crack the top 10 was Hudson's Momotaro Electric Railway 2010 for Wii. Games dropping out from last week's top 10 include Valve's EA-distributed title Left 4 Dead 2 for Xbox 360, Sega's J-League Pro Soccer Club o Tsukurou! 6 for PSP, and Namco Bandai's Dragon Ball: Raging Blast for PlayStation 3.
