Officials from the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) have announced that comedian Jay Mohr will host the 9th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards at a ceremony on February 9th at “The Joint” at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Mohr is apparently an avid fan of video games, and has performed voiceover work for Vivendi Universal Game’s forthcoming Scarface: The World is Yours. He is more famous as host of U.S. reality show Last Comic Standing, and for the recently published book Gasping for Airtime: Two Years in the Trenches of Saturday Night Live. "We're very excited to have Jay Mohr host the 2006 Interactive Achievement Awards," said Joseph Olin, president, AIAS. "Jay's unique and compelling brand of humor, not to mention his enthusiasm for video games, makes him the perfect choice to host this exciting event." Finalists for the 2006 Interactive Achievement Awards were announced on Monday and included thirteen genre awards, ten craft awards (including Outstanding Achievement in Game Design) and five ‘overall’ awards, including Console and PC Game of the Year.
