Game developers Koei and Enix Corp raised their profit estimates for the six months to September despite a drop in consumption in Japan.
Koei raised its group net profit forecast for the April-September period by 21.4 percent to 1.7 billion yen. Enix expects an 820 million yen parent net profit, up from its forecast of 440 million yen. Koei and Enix attributed the revision to decreased costs due to canceling some future games after reviewing quality and sales potential. Koei also experienced healthy sales of games for Sony’s Playstation 2 and Nintendo’s Gameboy Advance.
