Game developer and publisher Konami, who also has interests in CCGs, toys, and fitness clubs outside the main console gaming field, has released its financial results for the third financial quarter in 2004, and in a comparison of their performance compared to the same period in 2003, revenues have dipped slightly. Net revenues for the quarter were 81,494 million yen ($794.6 million USD), 99% of what they were over the same period in 2003. For the financial year to date over the first nine months, net revenues were 195,503 million yen ($1.9 billion USD), 92.1% of the net revenue over the same period in 2003. The company cited a number of games as contributing to their performance for the quarter. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was the top seller, with strong sales in both Japan and the U.S., but all other highlights were Japan-only releases, such as Mah-Jong Fight Club for PSP and Prince of Tennis 2005 Crystal Drive for the Nintendo DS. Konami's other sales highlights came from other divisions in the diversified company. Their Toy & Hobby division touted the performance of the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game and Nekketsu Powerful Pro Champ "play-poem;" the Amusement division saw steady income from the arcade machine Mah-Jong Fight Club 3 and their three-million-member online arcade service; while the Health and Fitness division received a good return on their sponsorship of the Honolulu Marathon 2004.
