AMD has announced the latest versions of three new DirectX 10-supported development tools: GPU PerfStudio, ShaderAnalyzer and The Compressonator now support the ATI Radeon 2000 series and Windows Vista, along with a host of new features. In addition to interactive tuning of shaders aimed to improve real-time performance and shader accuracy, GPU PerfStudio features automated bottleneck analysis and real-time interactive data visualization. PerfStudio also features cell formatting, custom filters and selectable UI anti-aliasing, in addition to separate rendertarget and backbuffer state overrides. ShaderAnalyzer builds on the new DirectX 10 support by adding support for Open GL shaders. It provides performance estimates for shaders and now enables developers to calculate shader throughput and shader performance bottlenecks. The Compressonator, a texture-compression tool, has also been enhanced, adding support of D3D10 texture formats and D3D10 texture compression. Said Firaxis executive producer Barry Caudill, “We have used AMD’s DirectX 9 based tools for quite some time, and received great results from them, including cracking hard-to-find performance problems. We are now looking forward to creating more blockbuster titles with the DirectX 10 version of GPU PerfStudio and GPU ShaderAnalyzer. AMD is truly stepping up to the plate by creating next generation content that will enable us to produce more of what fans of Firaxis titles have come to expect.”
