London Games Festival Returns For Third Year

Organizers have announced that the London Games Festival will return to the British capital for its third year of weeklong video game related activities. This year’s event will take place in the October school half-term holidays, with activities aimed at both casual and hardcore games and including careers advice and information for parents. The London Games Festival was created by the London Development Agency (LDA), with the support of industry and trade bodies ELSPA and Tiga, in order to celebrate video game’s “cultural influence and importance in today’s society”. 2007’s event attracted over 100,000 attendees, with more than fifty events including the Video Games Live concert event featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at London’s Festival Hall, an Electronic Arts sponsored celebrity event in Trafalgar Square and educational events at the London Science Museum. “Last year’s London Games Festival was a huge success and we were thrilled with the feedback from many of those who attended and the publishers who took part,” said organiser Keith Ramsdale. “The Trafalgar Square event looked fantastic and it was great to see so many families come down and enjoy it. We’ve got plenty in store for 2008 and a whole host of major partners lined up with full support from the industry.
