Major search engine Lycos has released its Lycos 50 list of the most searched-for items this holiday season, and has included information on the most-searched for video games and consoles in its list. In particular, the Top 10 games list saw free-to-play MMO Runescape atop the chart, closely followed by a number of anime licenses such as Dragonball Z and Naruto. The Final Fantasy series was at number four, followed by The Sims 2 at number six, Grand Theft Auto at number seven, Warcraft III at number eight, and Diablo II at number ten, with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Kingdom Hearts 2 also just outside the Top 10. According to Lycos, this marks the first year that Star Wars' themed games failed to make the top 10 list, and the first time ever that a massively multi-player game comes in as the number one searched video game. Surprisingly, there was no sign of Blizzard's World Of WarCraft in the Top 10, with it appearing down at number sixteen. In addition, game consoles were listed in the most-searched for toy section, with PlayStation coming it at number two, Xbox at number five, and Nintendo and number nine. Dean Tsouvalas, writer of The Lycos 50, noted of this: "For the fifth consecutive year, the Playstation gaming platforms remain more popular than all other gaming platforms, edging out Xbox, and generating three times as many searches as the Nintendo gaming systems." Lycos did not attempt to differentiate between specific different game systems, simply sorting by brand.
