Officials from digital rights management and software licensing technologies company Macrovision have announced the appointment of Loren Hillberg as the company’s general manager of emerging business. The Trymedia division specializes in offering free downloads for try-before-you-buy PC titles, with support from companies including Activision, Atari, Novalogic, Ubisoft, Vivendi Universal Games and Playlogic. The division is also responsible for the ActiveMARK secure digital distribution technology used in the downloads. In this new role Hillberg will be responsible for overseeing the company’s Trymedia games division, as well as other emerging businesses at Macrovision. Hillberg played a key role in launching shockwave.com at Macromedia, and was previously executive vice president and general counsel for Macrovision. "Trymedia has been a pioneer in online game distribution, and it's exciting to integrate that expertise with Macrovision's strengths on the physical side as well as open up possibilities into new areas, including digital distribution," said Hillberg.
