Majesco has announced that it is establishing an internal development facility in the Los Angeles area, specifically focused on casual game products and properties. The company also announced that former Sega VP of development Bill Petro will take on the newly-created role of Majesco's VP of internal development, responsible for building and overseeing studio operations. Prior to his role at Sega, where he oversaw the company's North American development efforts, Petro was vice president of development at Atari, and he also has held product development positions at developers including Konami and Electronic Arts. Majesco operations VP Gui Karyo said the new studio would focus on building a product line and IP assets that "emphasize fun, addictive game experiences." Karyo also praised the experience of Petro, who will report to him, as he welcomed him aboard in the studio's leading role. Jesse Sutton, Majesco’s interim CEO, added: “We’re excited about the opportunities that will result from this initiative and believe this move will allow us to build the same or better product as we do externally with similar or reduced costs. We also firmly believe that the creation and ownership of intellectual property increases long term shareholder value.” Added Petro: “Majesco is well positioned to succeed within the mass-market video game sector. I am excited to join such a dynamic organization and begin expanding its in-house capabilities.”
