Sony Computer Entertainment America has confirmed that SVP of marketing Peter Dille has left the company. In a statement given to games network IGN, SCEA noted, "Peter has been a dedicated and valued member of the PlayStation team for more than five years, leading the North American marketing efforts since PlayStation 3 launch in 2006, as well as helping establish the PlayStation Network as a comprehensive entertainment solution in this territory." "The leadership of our marketing effort is a key to the continued growth of the PlayStation brand, and the deep bench of executives and marketing team at SCEA will continue to drive the marketing function in North America until we establish a replacement." It concluded, "We wish Peter well in his future endeavors." No reason was given for Dille's departure and, as suggested in the statement, his position has not been filled. Apart from driving the North American marketing of the Playstation 3, Dille also played a key role in the launch of the original Playstation in 1995. Gamasutra talked to Dille in an interview recently as part of Playstation's 15th anniversary, in which he discussed the Playstation's launch and the company's troubled history with Nintendo over the cratered plan to launch the PlayStation as a peripheral for the Super Nintendo.
