Microsoft announced that it is lowering the price of the Xbox in Europe, from 479 euros to 299 euros ($265.96), from 299 to 199 British pounds in the U.K. (about $288) and from 485 to 399 Australian dollars (about $216) down under.
The new price, which will take effect April 26, is seen as reaction to an underwhelming launch. Microsoft is estimated to have shipped 700,000 to 900,000 units world-wide during the quarter ended in March, bringing total Xbox shipments to 2.2 million to 2.4 million.
