Microsoft representatives have announced plans for the company to launch the Xbox Live service in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore this April. These regions have an extremely high broadband penetration and a history of rabid support for PC online titles. However Microsoft employees will be keenly aware of the Xbox’s failure in the similarly online friendly South Korea, where they have to date signed only 6,500 subscribers. The company has indicated that it is attempting to address this problem by creating software more attuned to the Asian market, with a reported 30 different projects currently underway in Korea and Taiwan.
