Publisher Midway has announced a pair of executive promotions, with former publishing VP Miguel Iribarren becoming the company's new senior vice president, and international publishing vice president Martin Spiess moving up to executive VP of the company's international subsidiary, Midway Games, Ltd. Midway says that prior to Iribarren joining the company in 2002, he served as vice president of research at analyst group Wedbush Morgan. For his part, Midway says Spiess is a 20 year industry vet with senior roles at Atari, Crave Entertainment and Virgin Interactive Entertainment. The moves come following recent news of the departure of CEO David F. Zucker, with former senior VP of worldwide studios Matt Booty stepping up as interim CEO and president, and the recent resignation of Midway's executive VP, CFO, and treasurer, Thomas Powell. Said Booty, “Both Miguel and Martin are proven executives and will be key to putting Midway back on the path to profitability. With these two executives, as well as the rest of our experienced management team, I am confident that we can improve execution and deliver on Midway’s promise to regain its industry leadership and become a top tier, profitable company in the coming years.”
