Publisher Mindscape has established a new digital distribution-focused development studio in France, dubbing the group Punchers Impact. The studio intends to focus on downloadable games for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, although the identity of its first project has not yet been revealed. Information gleaned from job profile website LinkedIn indicates that the studio is based in Paris, employs around 45 developers, and has been operating for about two months. Its first game is scheduled for release on PC in the fourth quarter of 2010. According to various online reports, much of the studio's initial staff was hired from Electronic Arts and Nottingham, England-based Free Radical Design (now Crytek UK). Punchers Impact is being headed by Guillaume Descamps and Vincent Levy. Descamps was hired earlier this year as Mindscape's development director and creative director across all of the company's games. "I am delighted to have been able to put together a team of such high quality and am confident about the challenges that the team have taken on," said Descamps in a statement. "I can't wait to unveil our first project."
