Organizers of the Montreal Game Summit have announced the promotion of former marketing and sponsorships manager Alain Lachapelle to the Summit's new executive director, replacing outdoing director Jean-Pierre Faucher. Organizers say Lachapelle was most recently a member of the Festival du nouveau cinéma team, and one of the founders of the Qui lait cru? cheese shop, which earned him a 'best entrepreneur award' in 2005. He has also held positions at organizations like TOHU, Montreal’s circus arts complex. Lechapelle will be organizing the 2008 Montreal Game Summit, which will be held November 6th and 7th of 2008 at Montreal's Palais des congrès. Said Solange Blanchard, general manager of Summit organizers Alliance numérique, "Alain Lachapelle brings a fresh perspective that will ensure the Summit continues to grow and develop, following a fourth edition that set the record for content quality and attendance of more than 1200 participants. Mr. Lachapelle’s versatility and his expertise in marketing, event planning and sponsorships, as well as in communications in general, are sure to be precious assets for the Summit."
