Two veterans of the casual gamer market have announced the launch of a new studio in New York named Rebel Monkey, with the aim of “creating next generation casual games for the mass market”. Margaret Wallace was co-founder and CEO of Skunk Studios in San Francisco, best known for casual games such as QBeez and Gutterball. Meanwhile, Nicholas Fortugno has worked on popular titles such as Diner Dash, Plantasia and Web based strategy game Ayiti: The Cost of Life. "Rebel Monkey came about as a meeting of like-minds – with a common goal of taking casual games to the next level," says Wallace. "Both Nicholas Fortugno and I have been involved in casual games since the beginning, so we are bringing a lot of experience to the table." The company has yet to announce its first title or the platforms it will be working on, with the founders having experience of both mobile phone and Web based titles.
