Unsigned game developers have another opportunity to connect directly with publishers this year, via Game Connection 2005, which will be held at the Game Developers Convention in San Francisco on March 7 through 11. (The GDC, like Gamasutra and Game Developer Magazine, is run by the CMP Game Group.) The event will allow developers to pitch projects to publishers who might otherwise not be aware of the opportunities, or allow publishers to recruit developers to work on intellectual property they already own. Meetings are confidential and take place in private rooms, letting attendants maximize the number of appointments they can hold over the course of the event. Game Connection 2005 is sponsored by Lyon Game, a professional club based in the Rhone-Alps region of France. "The GDC is the natural focal point for the game creation community," said Jamil Moledina, director, Game Developers Conference. "Game Connection@GDC is therefore a great fit for all of us, in that it crystallizes the opportunities available for developers and publishers to sign deals and lay the groundwork for the next wave of hit titles."
