Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. said Wednesday that it founded DC Entertainment, a new company that aims to leverage DC properties more effectively in games, movies, and other media. DC Entertainment will work with Warner's other divisions, which include Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The companies said DC Entertainment will "prioritize DC properties as key titles and growth drivers across all of the Studio, including feature films, television, interactive entertainment, direct-to-consumer platforms and consumer products." Leading the new company is Diane Nelson, who is transitioning from president of Warner Premiere. She currently retains responsibilities overseeing Warner Premiere, as well as the massive Harry Potter property. The creation of DC Entertainment comes after the critically-acclaimed debut of Batman: Arkham Asylum, based on the popular DC Comics superhero. WBIE and Eidos co-published the game, which has been selling strongly in North America and the UK. Despite a stronger focus on movies, games, and other products, Warner said the DC Comics publishing business "business will remain the cornerstone of DC Entertainment," releasing numerous comic books and graphic novels. Warner also said that comics veteran Paul Levitz will transition from president and publisher of DC Comics back to his roots as a writer, contributing editor, and consultant to DC Entertainment.
