Newtek announced Gametek today at GDC, a set of resources for Lightwave 6.5 geared specifically for game developers. Newtek hopes that the addition of Gametek will make Lightwave more attractive for game development. Gametek will include a centralized, password-accessible web-based resource for programmers containing software, plug-ins, exporters for consoles and engines, as well as the Lightwave SDK. Tutorials and examples will also be available to showcase new techniques and technologies. Programmer licenses will be available free of charge with the purchase of a minimum quantity of artist licenses. Gametek will be available through the Lightwave 6 web site at http://www.lightwave6.com in early April.
