Southeast Asia's online games market revenues will more than double from an estimated $405.7 million in 2010 to $833.7 million by 2014, according to a new report from market research group Niko Partners. The firm's newly-published "Southeast Asian Game Market Regional Report" examines Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam -- in a previous study that included Taiwan, Niko pegged Southeast Asia's 2010 online games market at $917 million with a 2014 prediction of $1.7 billion. Niko's report also forecasts that those six emerging Asian markets will have over 90 million online gamers by 2014. It names Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam specifically as the regions presenting "the most intriguing opportunities for online game publishers over the next several years." "With online games market revenue growth surpassing even the blistering growth in the number of gamers in the region over the next several years, there are real opportunities for online game publishers to capture market share and be a ship on the rising tide," says Niko Partners managing partner Lisa Cosmas Hanson.
