Nintendo confirmed Wednesday that the larger-screened Nintendo DSi XL will be launching in North America on March 28 for $189.99, complete with pre-loaded software. The handheld, which boasts a screen 93 percent larger than the older DS Lite hardware, will come pre-loaded with Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Math and Photo Clock, along with the free Nintendo DSi Browser and Flipnote Studio applications. The DSi XL also has a larger "pen-like stylus" for added comfort when using it on the handheld's touch screen, Nintendo said, as well as a wider viewing angle. It will initially come in burgundy and bronze color schemes. The DSi XL is launching on the same date as new DS games, including America's Test Kitchen: Let's Get Cooking and WarioWare: D.I.Y. The DSi XL debuted in Japan last year under the name "DSi LL". This latest model is the fourth iteration of Nintendo's DS handheld line, which includes the original DS, the slimmer DS Lite, the camera-equipped DSi, and the DSi XL/LL. Worldwide, the DS line of hardware has sold over 125 million units. The DSi XL is also headed to Europe, although an official release date is to be announced.
