Nintendo of America announced the hiring of Cynthia Gordon, a public relations veteran with over 20 years of experience in consumer brands, as its new vice president of Corporate Affairs starting March 14. She will replace Denise Kaigler, who resigned in November 2009 after serving Nintendo for just under two years and took a chief marketing officer position at MMO company 38 Studios. Gordon joins the gaming company just as it prepares to launch a new console, the Nintendo 3DS, in North America on March 27. Gordon will work from Nintendo's Redwood City office and report to the Sales and Marketing EVP -- a position that's been vacant since Cammie Dunaway stepped down last October for a job outside the game industry. NoA president Reggie Fils-Aime, who once held that position, is currently managing that role. Prior to Nintendo, Gordon was the Digital and Social Media VP at Boston firm 360 Public Relations. She has also ran public relations and new media efforts at Universal Studios, and oversaw communications for variety of clients at GolinHarris in Chicago (Dunkin' Donuts, Baskin-Robbins, Togo's, Chrysler). "Cindy brings a wealth of smart, strategic brand experience to our team," says Fils-Aime. "As we prepare to launch our new Nintendo 3DS system on March 27, her expertise will help keep our momentum going strong through the rest of the year."
