Nintendo Reveals Million-Selling DS, Wii Titles

As part of Nintendo's recently-released investor briefing data, Gamasutra is also publishing the latest sales figures for the company's major DS and Wii franchises, with Nintendogs titles selling over 15 million worldwide, and New Super Mario Bros breaking 11 million - full stats inside. While many trends for the company's top titles are revealed in slides published on Gamasutra today and the company's financial results late last week, the documentation released by Nintendo has full detailed worldwide sales totals to the end of September 2007, as follows: Nintendo DS Nintendogs: 15,770,000 Pokemon Diamond/Pearl: 12,170,000 New Super Mario Bros.: 11,150,000 Brain Age: 9,660,000 Mario Kart DS: 8,530,000 Brain Age 2: 7,530,000 Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass: 1,350,000 Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: 1,290,000 Nintendo Wii Wii Sports: 11,860,000 (including hardware bundles) Wii Play w/Wii Remote: 6,320,000 Mario Party 8: 2,890,000 Super Paper Mario: 1,740,000 Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree: 1,380,000 Mario Strikers Charged: 1,330,000 The totals also included sales totals for those titles in the 6 months ending September 2007, revealing that Pokemon Diamond/Pearl was the big seller in that time frame, with 6.79 million copies sold outside Japan (and 160,000 in Japan). Also selling notably in non-Japanese territories for the DS was Brain Age 2 (2.73 million in those 6 months), the evergreen Nintendogs (2.04 million), Brain Age (1.65 million), New Super Mario Bros (1.51 million), and Mario Kart DS (1.08 million). For the Wii, the major sellers outside Japan were the bundled Wii Sports, for which 5.66 million copies were sold in bundles, Wii Play (3.03 million), Mario Party 8 (2.03 million), Super Paper Mario (1.25 million), Mario Strikers Charged (1.10 million), and Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree (990,000).
