Officials from Nintendo have announced that the company has sold 20 million units of Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Advance SP consoles in the United States. They claim this feat outperforms all previous versions of the format, with the original Game Boy selling just 2.4 million units in its first 2½ years and the Game Boy Color selling 14.3 million in the same timeframe. Sales in 2003 where apparently the best in the format’s fourteen year history at 8.1 million units. However, the company recently admitted that global shipments of the Game Boy Advance would miss its 2003/4 end of year target by approximately 2 million units. Source: Reuters
