Nominations Begin For IGDA's "Game Developers Choice Awards"

The International Game Developers Association (IGDA) has begun accepting nominations for the upcoming Game Developers Choice Awards.

The awards, now in their third year, recognize innovation and excellence in the art of making games. Awards will be given in the following categories:

  • Lifetime Achievement Award

    • IGDA Award for Community Contribution

    • The First Penguin Award

    • Excellence in Audio

    • Excellence in Game Design

    • Excellence in Level Design

    • Excellence in Programming

    • Excellence in Visual Arts

    • Excellence in Writing

    • Game of the Year

    • Game Innovation Spotlights

    • Original Game Character of the Year

    • Rookie Studio Award Nominations may only be submitted by game developers currently working in the industry, and the deadline to nominate is January 23. The awards will be presented on March 6, 2003, at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Jose, CA. More information, including the nomination form, can be found at the Game Developers Choice Awards site. The IGDA is an independent, non-profit association, which is managed by the Gama Network, which also produces this site.
