The Nordic Game Program has awarded a total of DKK 3 million ($533,000) to eight game projects, in the latest round of the local game funding the program has conducted for nearly five years. Six of the games were selected as worthy of significant support by the organization, and were granted between DKK 250,000 ($44,492) and DKK 600,000 ($106,780). Another two unnamed projects were given smaller sums of DKK 100,000 ($17,796) each, to "improve their application" for the next round of funding. The awarded games, in descending order of grant value, are as follows: Rocket Pack Ltd. of Finland was awarded DKK 600,000 ($106,780) for Cats vs. Dogs, a "casual game with strong social and multiplayer elements, combining the 'pick up and play' nature of casual games with the addictive multiplayer element of browser-based MMOs." Prodigium Game Studios of Finland received DKK 550,000 ($97,882) for Floorball League, a "3D Floorball sports game." Tactile Entertainment of Denmark was given a DKK 500,000 ($88,984) grant for The Wolf in the Iron Forest, a "breathtaking 3rd person action adventure" based on an animated film about a werewolf. Press Play of Denmark received DKK 500,000 ($88,984) for Tentacle Terror, a "unique arcade-style platformer in three episodes." ZAXIS of Denmark was given DKK 400,000 ($71,187) for You've Got Snail, a physics-based puzzle game in which players help a snail save his flowers from "the Blossom Factory." Toltec Studios of Sweden was awarded DKK 250,000 ($44,492) for The Ball, an Unreal Engine 3-based first-person action puzzle game that first gained notice in mod form. Today's grants were part of Nordic Game's first funding round of 2010. The group will accept submissions for the second round of the year until September 1, at its official site.
