Graphics technology company Nvidia announced 3D Vision for GeForce, a stereoscopic 3D solution for gaming and home entertainment PCs, powered by GeForce GPUs, available starting today. Designed to work with Samsung and ViewSonic 120 hz LCD monitors, Mitsubishi DLP HDTVs, and Lightspeed Design's DepthQ HD 3d Projector, 3D vision seeks to provide new experiences in 3D gaming, 3D movies, and 3D photography. The solution uses a USB-based IR emitter that has a real-time 3D adjustment dial and transmits data to a pair of wireless active shutter glasses, which are modeled after modern sunglasses. Nvidia's accompanying software automatically converts over 300 games to work in 3D stereo out of the box, without needing any extra patches. Players can take in-game screenshots with 3D vision and view them in 3D stereo. They can also import and view stereoscopic pictures and movies from different capture sources and online galleries. "For gamers, 3D Vision for GeForce represents a whole different way of experiencing the game, and for developers, it unlocks the potential of making the game literally pop off the screen," says Nvidia's VP of GeForce desktop business Ujesh Desai. "From games to movies to photography, 3D Vision delivers a truly immersive awesome 3D experience."
