Theme park operators Paramount Parks have announced a partnership with Games Media Properties to organize “The Gamefest Tour” in five of its U.S. parks. The tour will allow park attendees to play new and unreleased video game, with prizes and free giveaways, showing the increasingly mainstream nature of the game industry. The tour will begin on May 26th at Paramount’s Great America Park in California, remaining at each of the five parks for three weeks before moving on. Gamefest will be supported through a major marketing program that will include in-park, radio and online advertising. Games Media Properties has previously operated the GameRiot tour for the last two years, traveling to cities across the U.S. at festivals and fairs. “Games Media has been looking to extend its mission of bringing what’s new in video games and technology to the mass gaming audience across America,” said Matthew Ringel, president and CEO of Games Media Properties. “Paramount Parks is always on the lookout for new and different attractions to bring to our parks each summer for our patrons to enjoy,” said Brett Petit of Paramount Parks. “Video games have exploded in popularity and having the opportunity to work with Games Media to bring the best released and yet-to-be released games to our park is certainly something that we think will be of great appeal to our customers.”
