Digital media software company PipelineFX, makers of the farm render management software Qube, and Southpaw Technology, makers of digital asset management system Tactic, have a have announced that Tactic has been updated to integrate with Qube in support of next-generation render pipelines. With Tactic, users submit a version of a particular asset or shot directly through the Tactic interface. Tactic then submits a custom job type to Qube, feeding it the information needed process the asset, including necessary frame range and quality levels. Qube then distributes the job across the render farm. Once rendering is complete, Qube sends the results back to Tactic; PipelineFX explains that this integration helps distinguish between files that need to be rendered and those that are the results of the render. PipelineFX notes that Qube is openly extensible via its C++, Perl and Python APIs. PipelineFX develops Qube with the same APIs provided to customers, enabling its features to be customized and to integrate with other apps like Tactic. ”Tactic understands assets, and Qube! understands jobs,” said Remko Noteboom, CTO of Southpaw Technology Inc. “This deep integration is a real benefit to studios looking to streamline their pipeline and remove time-intensive manual tasks.”
