Newly formed publisher Pop Rocket Games announced its opening, and says it will market and release online and mobile games for social platforms like Facebook and the App Store. Founded at the end of 2010, the firm is led by Tahsin Avci and Bernd Sanmann. While the latter's experience is mostly in the advertising sector, Avci previously helped market products like Baldur's Gate II and Icewind Dale at Virgin Interactive, and also consulted on brands like Civilization and RollerCoaster Tycoon. The Hamburg-based publisher hasn't revealed its upcoming projects or which studios its partnering with yet, but Pop Rocket says it's working with "internationally experienced game developers" to bring an original IP to Facebook some time this year. Pop Rocket describes its mission as "developing and marketing of accessible and entertaining online and mobile games on social platforms such as Facebook and portals like the App Store -- great gameplay ideas that aim for maximum fun."
