PrimeSense, a 3D sensing and recognition technology company, says its tech is being used in Microsoft's Project Natal gesture-controlled input system. "PrimeSense has delivered an important component to the technology, helping us deliver revolutionary controller-free entertainment experiences in the living room," says Ilan Spillinger, Microsoft VP of Xbox 360 hardware. Microsoft plans to launch Project Natal this holiday. According to the Israel-headquartered company, the Project Natal sensor was developed based on the PrimeSensor reference design. The company makes sensing and recognition tech for consumer devices from home computing to consumer electronics. Specifically, PrimeSense's products include the PS1080 System on Chip and PrimeSensor reference design. PrimeSense also offers cross-platform software for application development. "The engagement with Xbox 360 establishes PrimeSense's position as a leading supplier of 3D-sensing technology," says PrimeSense CEO Inon Beracha.
