Qantm College has opened a new branch in the Islington neighborhood of London. Qantm is an Australian school founded in 1996 that specializes in diploma and degree courses for aspiring video game developers and 3D animators, which offers training in software and hardware and often features guest speakers from the professional industry. The college has three schools in Australia (Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney), one in Singapore, and three others in Europe (Vienna, Munich and Amsterdam). The new London location formally opened November 22. Similar to the teaching model used at the Australian location, the London school will provide tightly focused courses with the flexibility to allow specialization in specific areas such as character animation/texturing or movement programming. Nic Oliver, a marketing manager for Qantm, said in a press release, “The U.K. was always going to be a prime choice to benefit from a Qantm educational facility. There’s a thriving game development community here which is crying out for skilled graduates. “We are bringing our 11 years of experience in Australia to offer relevant and practical courses that will allow the U.K. to continue punching above its weight as the games industry continues its explosive growth,” Oliver said.
