The G.A.M.E.S. Synergy Summit has named Ray Kurzweil, visionary inventor, as its keynote speaker for the upcoming 2006 conference. Kurzweil is the creator of inventions such as print-to-speech reading devices, orchestral music synthesizers, and more; in addition, he's become a best-selling writer with his books The Age of Spiritual Machines and The Singularity is Near. "We are truly honored to have Ray Kurzweil, one of the world's true technology visionaries, as this year's Keynote," said Interactive Entertainment Institute Executive Director Tom Buscaglia. "The convergence of technologies across multiple disciplines is essential to business innovation and no one understands the impact of convergence of the technologies used by the G.A.M.E.S. Disciplines better than Ray Kurzweil. Quite simply, Kurzweil's presence at GSS06 takes this event to new heights and exceeds our already extremely high standards for content." The G.A.M.E.S. Synergy Summit is devoted to serious games that apply the principles of video games to training and simulation applications; the full name of the conference is Government, Academic, Military, Entertainment, and Simulation Synergy Summit. The 2006 Summit will be held at the Wyndham Orlando Resort in Florida from January 17-18, 2006.
