The third annual Penny Arcade Expo, a video game convention for consumers, has been set for August 25th through August 27th in Bellevue, Washington. Due to its explosive growth, the convention will move from the Meydenbauer Center where it spent the first two years into an event spread across several hotels. The 2005 event had over 9,000 attendees, with more likely to show up at the 2006 convention. This year's convention will continue PAX features such as question-and-answer panels with industry professionals, concerts featuring video game-related musical acts each night, a plethora of PCs and consoles set up for both official tournaments and free play, tabletob gaming areas, and the multi-game Omegathon event. "Now that we have some distance from it, I am able to look back at PAX 05 objectively and say that it was the greatest gaming event ever held in the universe," said Michael Krahulik, artist and cocreator of the Penny Arcade strip. "The honest truth is that we would have to be idiots to think that we could top it. So...that's what we intend to do!" Preregistration for the 2006 event, which allows early entry into the convention, is now open at the official PAX site. Industry professionals interested in presenting games or participating in panels can also find exhibitor registration information on the site.
