Gamasutra's regular round-up of worldwide video game releases, "Release This!", takes a look at every game title we know to be shipping to stores this week, in an exclusively compiled list. This week brings the multiplatform North American debuts of awaited titles like FIFA Soccer 09 and Dead Space, while gamers in the UK get Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 and a PlayStation 3 port of BioShock. The following list covers all of the game software we know to be available -- across all platforms and regions -- for the week ending October 18th, 2008. Games Released in the United States:
The traditionally busy pre-holiday release season starts early in North America, where more than 70 new titles are set to debut across all platforms in the coming week. The lineup includes a number of significant and long-awaited releases, with Dead Space, Saints Row 2, and FIFA Soccer 09 serving as highlights in multiplatform offerings. The Nintendo Wii will also see several big-name releases this week, including the adventure game compilation Sam & Max: Season One, karaoke sequel Boogie Superstar, and the board game-styled RPG Dokapon Kingdom. Portable releases are headed by a localization of Korg DS-10, while PC gamers receive Shaun White Snowboarding and World of Goo. Games Released in Europe:
An anticipated PlayStation 3 port of 2K's BioShock is set to debut in Europe this week, arriving several days in advance of its planned release in other regions. Also seeing a worldwide debut in the UK this week are Konami's soccer franchise update Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 and Deep Silver's X3: Terran Conflict, along with two new entries in Midas Interactive's Clever Kids series of educational titles. Nintendo's music simulation title Wii Music highlights this week's Japanese multiplatform lineup, arriving alongside fellow Wii offerings Daikaijuu Battle: Ultra Coliseum and Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces. PlayStation 2 owners will see a new Kidou Senshi Gundam-licensed title from Bandai, meanwhile, as the PS3 and Xbox 360 receive a localization of EA's FaceBreaker. AQ Interactive's Away: Shuffle Dungeon and a new port of Culdcept will soon arrive among this week's Nintendo DS debuts, while the PSP receives the Acquire-developed strategy sequel Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida Or 2.
