This week finds long-awaited console titles like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Rock Band 2 bound for store shelves in North America. DS owners anticipate the U.S. release of Dragon Quest IV, meanwhile, as PC gamers worldwide prepare for Crysis: Warhead and Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. The following list covers all of the game software we know to be available -- across all platforms and regions -- for the week ending September 20th, 2008. Games Released in the United States:
A major release week is in store for gamers in the United States, where multiple awaited titles are set to debut across all platforms. All consoles are portables will receive a version of the highly anticipated action title Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, while PC offerings are highlighted by big names like Crysis: Warhead, The Witcher Enhanced Edition, and Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Xbox 360 owners can expect to see the Arc System Works fighter Battle Fantasia, mech combat series expansion Armored Core: For Answer, and the multi-instrument rhythm genre sequel Rock Band 2. On portables, a localized version of Square Enix's Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen stands out among a lineup that also features Line Rider 2 Unbound, Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition, and Yggdra Union. Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning will also see European release this week, arriving alongside fellow PC debuts Crysis: Warhead and Lineage II: The Chaotic Throne - Gracia. UK consoles are also set to see a decent amount of variety this week, with notable premieres including Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Yakuza 2, and the worldwide English-language debut of Warriors Orochi 2 on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360. Japanese console releases for the week include Koei's multiplatform horse racing sim GI Jockey 4, Epic's Unreal Tournament III, and a PS3 port of Namco's Trusty Bell: Chopin no Yume (previously seen on the Xbox 360 and released in other regions as Eternal Sonata). On portables, Dragon Ball DS currently ranks as one of the Nintendo DS' top presale titles at online retailer Amazon.co.jp, while Samurai Dou Portable provides an upgraded PSP port of the PS2 action title Way of the Samurai.
