Gamasutra's regular round-up of worldwide video game releases, "Release This!", takes a look at every game title we know to be shipping to stores this week, in an exclusively compiled list. NBA-licensed basketball titles from 2K, EA, and Sony headline this week's multiconsole offerings in the United States and Europe. UK gamers will additionally see Lego Batman: The Video Game this week, along with an exclusive localization of the popular Nintendo DS synthesizer simulator Korg DS-10. The following list covers all of the game software we know to be available -- across all platforms and regions -- for the week ending October 11th, 2008. Games Released in the United States:
The start of the upcoming NBA season is preceded by this week's selection of debuting basketball titles -- Sony's NBA 09: The Inside, 2K Sports' NBA 2K9, and EA's NBA Live 09. Other multiplatform offerings this week include the Crash Bandicoot franchise sequel Crash: Mind Over Mutant and the LucasArts-published action title Fracture. This week's lineup otherwise largely consists of platform exclusives. Wii owners will receive a resurrected port of the previously cancelled Ten Pin Alley 2, along with Army Men: Soldiers of Misfortune and Midway's minigame compilation sequel Game Party 2. On portables, the Nintendo DS is set to see Taito's Kage Densetsu: The Legend of Kage 2 and Koei's Prey the Stars, while Midnight Club: L.A. Remix and Cake Mania: Baker's Challenge prepare for launch on the PSP. Games Released in Europe:
Headlining this week's European lineup is an awaited English localization of AQ Interactive's Korg MS-10 synthesizer simulator Korg DS-10. The title has remained in high demand since its initial Japanese release in July, and regularly finishes among the region's top DS sellers at Amazon.co.jp. No release date for Korg DS-10 has yet been set for any other region. Other region-exclusive European debuts for this week include Bratz Girlz Really Rock on the PlayStation 2 and Donkey Xote, Dragon Hunters, and Gravity Zero Racing for the Nintendo DS. The multiplatform Lego Batman: The Video Game is also set to premiere in the UK this week, arriving alongside cross-console releases like CID The Dummy and Fracture. Games Released in Japan:
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith serve as western-developed highlights in this week's Japanese console release lineup. The PlayStation 2 is set to host several additional releases, including the American TV series-licensed Daito Giken Koushiki Pachi-Slot Simulator: 24 - Twenty-Four and the PC-ported adventure title Infinity Plus. Nintendo DS owners will see the puppy training simulator sequel Kawaii Koinu DS2 and the Square Enix-developed Snoopy DS: Snoopy to Chuugen Taichi ni Ei ni Iku! this week, while PSP owners receive Macross Ace Frontier.
