Trevor Williams, head of Codemasters Birmingham, has left the company less than one year after Codemasters purchased the studio, which was previously known as Swordfish Studios, Develop reported this week. "Since joining Codemasters in late 2008 following the acquisition of Swordfish Studios, it's been a pleasure to have Trevor on the senior studios team and his contribution has been of great benefit to our Southam, Birmingham and Malaysian studios; we wish him the very best in his future projects," said Gavin Cheshire, VP of Codemasters Studios. Williams was managing director of Cold Winter developer Swordfish when Vivendi Games acquired the studio in 2005. After the Vivendi Games-Activision merger, the new company Activision Blizzard sold the Birmingham-based Swordfish to Codemasters in November 2008, and Williams went with the sale. (Monumental Games acquired the separate Manchester branch of Swordfish around the same time.) According to Develop, Williams is leaving Codemasters on amicable terms. Alex McLean is reportedly taking over Williams' position at Codemasters Birmingham.
