Major media conglomerate NBC Universal is in the final stages of a $100 million investment in UK-based SCi Entertainment Group, which owns publisher Eidos Interactive, according to a Financial Times report. The move would make NBC a major shareholder. SCi could also be soliciting increased ownership by Warner Bros. Entertainment, which already holds a 10.3 percent stake in the company. Though SCi did not weigh in on the report, the Financial Times claims that a deal with either NBC or Warner could occur within the next two weeks. Last year, the company confirmed it was undergoing talks of acquisition, following persistent financial problems. This past January, those offers fell through, and key SCi leadership departed. The offers would put the company on a path to raising needed funds. CEO Phil Rogers, who joined the company after previous CEO Jane Cavanagh left, stated last month that SCi must raise GBP 45-55 million ($89.8-$109.7 million). He also instituted significant restructuring and budget-cutting plans intended to help turn the company around.
