In order to promote Team Bondi's L.A. Noire, Rockstar Games has partnered with the L.A. Times to create an online interactive map that details some of Los Angeles' most interesting and bizarre crimes from 1947. The L.A. Noire 1947 Edition Crime Map offers a geographical breakdown of a handful of the city's most notable crimes of the era, and users can click on these locations to see reports on the crimes as they originally appeared in the L.A. Times. Rockstar says that a number of the crimes featured on the map even served as inspiration for the cases in L.A. Noire. Examples of these crimes include a suspicious hit-and-run and the unsolved murder of Army veteran Jeanne French. The majority of the crimes on the map, however, will not appear in the game, but simply capture a snapshot of the crime scene in L.A. during the 1940s. As L.A. Noire nears its release, Rockstar and the L.A. Times plan to update the map with additional crimes and newspaper excerpts as part of a marketing plan to build awareness for the game and its setting.
