Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
Starting this Fall, Ion Storm founders John Romero and Tom Hall will be instructors in the computer science department of the University of Texas at Dallas, according to a recent article in the Dallas Morning News.
In addition to working at their latest start-up, Monkeystone Games, Romero will teach a programming class, and Hall will teach a game design class. "The overall class for programming is going to be designing a game engine, and all the components that go into the game engine; the networking, the drawing subsystem, the input system, all the major components," Romero told Victor Godinez of the DMN. "If it turns out pretty good, we can maybe talk to some of our friends that are here in Dallas that are working at game companies to maybe help out with some new classes, maybe set up some kind of a degree," he said.
