While many of our readers have been off for the holiday season, Gamasutra has continued to update with previously unseen features and news stories. Thus, for the benefit of those who may have missed them, here's a summary of the features posted in late December: - In Event Wrap-Up: Deathmatch In The Stacks (December 26th), Matthew Hawkins looked at the New York-based Deathmatch In The Stacks book launch, which featured game-related academics and professional developers, from Valve's Ken Birdwell to Adventure creator Warren Robinett, dueling over game design ideas. - In Texture Compression Techniques and Tips (December 28th), Allen Sherrod compares and contrasts the A8L8, DXT and 3Dc methods of texture compression for video games, also analyzing how each format stacks up against the others when dealing with decal textures and normal map images. - In With A Cherry On Top: Namco Networks On Mobile Strategies (December 30th), Namco Networks Vice President of Sales and Marketing Scott Rubin talks to Frank Cifaldi about Namco's new U.S. mobile game division's products, sales trends, and future, from Pac-Man's Arcade Corner to mobile Time Crisis.
