Today's round-up includes information on the Revolution's graphics chip from ATI, an important new hire for in-game ad company Massive Inc, and another new Final Fantasy XII-branded piece of hardware to be available in Japan, as well as the latest GameSetWatch links and today's product news and Gamasutra job postings. - In a conversation with website Revolution Report, ATI public relations manager John Swinimer commented on his company's work on Nintendo's next-generation Revolution graphics chip. "When you have a game developer developing [for] this, the goal is to ensure that they don't have to worry about the complexity that is required to develop the games by making them 'jump through hoops.' That was one of the benefits of working on the GameCube; developers were saying that it is quite easy to develop for and there are not a lot of complexities so they could produce titles easily. That being said, we want consumers to look at the game, play the game and be involved in it. We are doing our very best to make this Nintendo gaming experience the very best it can be." Swinimer played down the issue of the system's precise specs and power, saying "The key thing to keep in mind is that Nintendo, with ATI's help, is trying to create a game console where you don't have to look at [specs]." - Massive Incorporated, a provider of dynamic in-game advertising, has named David Orman its new vice president of advertising sales for the UK and Scandinavia. Formerly the sales director at Eurosport Television, Orman will be charged with expanding the sales teams in the regions under his command, and driving revenue from ad sales. "David brings significant breadth and depth to our sales efforts and to our overall business expansion throughout Europe," said Massive executive VP of ad sales Nick Loria. "His multi-platform media experience is critical for marketing the unique opportunity offered by Massive -- the ability for advertisers to be able to deliver customized, real-time brand messaging to the growing gaming audience." - Following the announcement of an official Sony hardware bundle, Logicool, a Japanese division of peripheral manufacturer Logitech, has announced a Final Fantasy XII-branded wireless controller. The controller will sport a rounded design with shining white finish, and a small FFXII logo on the face. Also included in the package is a small LCD cleaning cloth, with a strap to attach the cloth to a cellular phone or other small electronic device. The controller will go on sale March 16th, alongside the long-delayed game, for 4980 yen ($43). - Over at Gamasutra's recently launched sister game weblog GameSetWatch, new posts include a new U.S. arcade version of Dance Dance Revolution, some extra info on Electroplankton creator Toshio Iwai and his latest musical instrument, and news on a new Rubik's Cube world record, among others. - Also updated today: product news including Perforce's latest release of its SCM Fast Software Configuration Management system, as well as today's Gamasutra job postings, including positions from Amaze Entertainment, Petroglyph, TimeGate Studios, Vicious Cycle Software, Cranky Pants Games, and DQ Entertainment.
