Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five real-time Amazon.com sellers for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide. This week's charts, with data taken from May 29th, 2008, see a slow sales climb for Wii Fit in North America as supply shortages continue, while Age of Conan and Mass Effect top regional PC software sales. Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows: Nintendo Wii North America: 1. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 2. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 3. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Bundle (Activision), 4. Wii Play (Nintendo), 5. We Ski (Namco Bandai). Japan: 1. Family Trainer (Bandai), 2. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 3. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 4. Link no Bowgun Training + Wii Zapper (Nintendo), 5. Totsugeki!! Famicom Wars VS (Nintendo). UK: 1. Wii Play (Nintendo), 2. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 3. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Sega), 4. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 5. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (Konami). Wii Fit moves up North America's Wii chart slightly in its second week of release, though sales are still hampered by widespread supply shortages. Aftermarket prices appear to have stabilized at just above $160, and prices could soon fall once additional supply becomes available to satisfy demand. A discounted Guitar Hero III takes third in this week's results, meanwhile, as the upcoming Wii port of Rock Band outpaces Wii Play's U.S. chart performance in weekly preorder sales. In Japan, Bandai's exercise mat-bundled Family Trainer debuts as this week's best-selling Wii title, dropping Mario Kart Wii out of the region's top spot for the first time since its release last month. Xbox 360 North America: 1. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare -- Game of the Year Edition (Activision), 2. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 -- Limited Edition (Ubisoft), 3. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar), 4. Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action (Microsoft), 5. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Bundle (Activision). Japan: 1. Lost Planet: Colonies (Capcom), 2. Overlord (Microsoft), 3. The Orange Box (EA Games), 4. Battle Fantasia (Arc System Works), 5. The Idolm@ster: Live for You! (Namco). UK: 1. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar), 2. Rock Band (EA Games), 3. Halo 3 (Microsoft), 4. The Orange Box (EA Games), 5. Race Driver: GRID (Codemasters). This week's North American Xbox 360 software sales at Amazon find Grand Theft Auto IV falling to third place in favor of Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and the Game of the Year Edition of Call of Duty 4. Both titles saw recent spikes in popularity resulting from a day-long Xbox 360 games sale at Amazon. The peripheral-bundled trivia title Scene It? also finds a significant boost in the wake of the sale, finishing at fourth place in overall weekly numbers in the United States. Japanese sales are headed by the just-released Lost Planet: Colonies and Overlord, meanwhile, as Arc System Works' anticipated 2D fighter Battle Fantasia debuts at fourth place in this week's results. PlayStation 3 North America: 1. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar), 2. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Bundle (Activision), 3. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (SCEA), 4. Assassin's Creed (Ubisoft), 5. Rock Band Special Edition (EA Games). Japan: 1. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (Ubisoft), 2. Senjou no Valkyria (Sega), 3. Turok (Touchstone), 4. Battle Fantasia (Arc System Works), 5. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Activision). UK: 1. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar), 2. Haze (Ubisoft), 3. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (SCEE), 4. Race Driver: GRID (Codemasters), 5. Assassin's Creed (Ubisoft). Though last week's Guitar Hero III sale price remains in effect at Amazon, Grand Theft Auto IV pushes past to reclaim the top spot in this week's PlayStation 3 software sales in North America. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue jumps up to third place, as last week's newcomers Haze and SingStar are nowhere to be seen among this week's top U.S. sellers. The recently released Japanese version of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 tops regional PS3 sales, meanwhile, as Grand Theft Auto IV stays on top in the UK. PlayStation 2 North America: 1. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Bundle (Activision), 2. Rock Band Special Edition (EA Games), 3. Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection (Konami), 4. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES (Atlus), 5. God of War II (SCEA). Japan: 1. Beatmania IIDX 14: GOLD (Konami), 2. Togainu no Chi: True Blood -- DX Pack (Kadokawa Shoten), 3. Mana Khemia 2: Ochita Gakuen to Renkinjutsushi Tachi (Gust), 4. D.C. II P.S.: Da Capo II Plus Situation (Kadokawa Shoten), 5. D.C. II P.S.: Da Capo II Plus Situation -- DX Pack (Kadokawa Shoten). UK: 1. FIFA 08 (EA Sports), 2. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (Konami), 3. Shadow of the Colossus (SCEE), 4. Guitar Hero II (Activision), 5. SingStar Summer Party (SCEE). This week's North American PS2 sales results remain unchanged from last week's findings. Discounts for Guitar Hero III and Rock Band continue to drive sales for both titles, as Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection and Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES remain popular sellers from week to week. Elsewhere, Konami's DJ simulation sequel Beatmania IIDX 14: GOLD premieres this week to chart-topping sales in Japan, with fellow debuts Togainu no Chi: True Blood and Mana Khemia 2: Ochita Gakuen to Renkinjutsushi Tachi taking second and third place. PC North America: 1. Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures -- Collector's Edition (Eidos), 2. Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures (Eidos), 3. Mass Effect (EA Games), 4. The Orange Box (EA Games), 5. Sins of a Solar Empire (Stardock). Japan: 1. Akatsuki no Amaneka to Aoi Kyojin (Kogado Studio), 2. Final Fantasy XI: Vana'diel Collection (Square Enix), 3. Clannad Full Voice (Key), 4. Final Fantasy XI: Altana no Kamihei (Square Enix), 5. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Activision). UK: 1. Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures (Eidos), 2. The Sims 2 (EA Games), 3. Race Driver: GRID (Codemasters), 4. Football Manager 2008 (Sega), 5. Medieval II: Total War Gold Edition (Sega). Though the Collector's Edition of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures remained in short supply in the title's first week of release, additional stock has since been made available at Amazon, resulting in a first-place finish for the edition in this week's U.S. sales results. The PC version of Mass Effect debuts this week to a third-place finish, meanwhile, though customer ratings at Amazon have thus far been poor, due to the title's widely criticized copy protection. Meanwhile, this week's release of Akatsuki no Amaneka to Aoi Kyojin leads PC sales in Japan, where two different versions of Final Fantasy XI also make a top five finish. Nintendo DS North America: 1. Brain Age (Nintendo), 2. Brain Age 2 (Nintendo), 3. New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo), 4. Mario Kart DS (Nintendo), 5. My Word Coach (Ubisoft). Japan: 1. Mugen no Frontier: Super Robot Taisen OG Saga (Banpresto), 2. Kuukan * Zukei: Hirameki Training - KuuTore (Benesse), 3. Lux-Pain (Marvelous), 4. Fushigi? Kagaku: Nazotoki Quiz Training - NazoTore (Benesse), 5. DS Bimoji Training (Nintendo). UK: 1. Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training (Nintendo), 2. MySims (EA Games), 3. Cooking Mama 2: Dinner with Friends (505 Games), 4. Mario Kart DS (Nintendo), 5. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Sega). Nintendo's Brain Age series tops this week's Nintendo DS charts in North America, with New Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart DS trailing close behind. My Word Coach's recent price drop continues to spur strong sales, as the title hangs on to a top five finish for the third week in a row. Japanese DS sales find a new leader in the debuting Mugen no Frontier: Super Robot Taisen OG Saga, though the Benesse-published pair Kuukan * Zukei: Hirameki Training - KuuTore and Fushigi? Kagaku: Nazotoki Quiz Training - NazoTore put up a strong fight in their first week of release. PlayStation Portable North America: 1. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (Square Enix), 2. God of War: Chains of Olympus (SCEA), 3. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (Konami), 4. Patapon (SCEA), 5. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (Rockstar). Japan: 1. Clannad (Prototype), 2. Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu Portable 3 (Konami), 3. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (Capcom), 4. Valhalla Knights 2 (Marvelous), 5. Maplus Portable Navi 2 (Edia). UK: 1. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (Konami), 2. God of War: Chains of Olympus (SCEA), 3. FIFA 08 (EA Sports), 4. Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 (EA Games), 5. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories -- Platinum (Rockstar). The PC-ported Clannad and Konami's baseball franchise update Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu Portable 3 lead cross-platform Japanese software sales in their first week of release, deposing longtime chart champion Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G. In North America, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is back at the top this week following an Amazon-sponsored "Deal of the Day" promotion that offered the title at a significant discount. God of War: Chains of Olympus drops back to second place after claiming a chart-topping victory last week.
